By the sea

As a kid

I sat by the sea
As it touched
My home sweet home.

I loved to play
In the waters
And dad took me parasailing
By the sea.

I loved to see
Ships take off
To distant shores
Across the horizon.

And I loved to see
The sun set
On my way from school
I loved to swim
With lifebuoys on
Till I was told
'Don’t go too far'
I loved to play
With playmates
In the sand.

Collected shells
Built castles,
Till the time
When an evening tide
Wiped away
My little 'home'.

I sulked
Built the castle again
... Same plight.

Then finally gave up
Returned home.
But those shells I collected
Still adorn my home.

i love this poem! i am very much in love with seashells and the water too...it's amazing how well things of such beauty can just arise from water...it's just water! yet, at the same time, it's so much more. Please keep this up, you've got such talent!
