Happiness... within my reach!

Does happiness depend on any external entity? How much do others affect out sense of well-being?

Slowly, I am beginning to realize that happiness, sorrow is nothing but my own state of mind. My perception of things affects my physical and emotional health. Why should then, I subject myself to this endless torture by seeking fulfillment elsewhere? Why can’t I be my own healer?

Happiness is inside me and no external factor can change it. It stems from within, not from the people around me. But not many will agree with me. Once upon a time, I myself didn’t agree with this philosophy. And even now, I would be lying if I don’t admit that acceptance by others lies at the very basis of things we do. Social animals that we are, we stick to our herd and do things that will make us more popular and liked in that particular flock. Since childhood, we form our own notions of good and bad accordingly, and look at the world with that coloured perception. And that probably, is the root cause of our sorrow.

But natural instincts are natural instincts… they cannot be taught or conditioned. And happiness is one such instinct. And then, haven’t we experienced any moments when, despite being alone, we’ve felt your heart dancing away to its own tunes? Haven’t we felt blissful, out of the blue, for no good reason? How many times has the first shower of rain made us feel sensuous from within, with/without good clothes on? And with/without people around to see? …And many such things... one surely cannot negate possibilities of being happy regardless of public acceptance. And this applies to every aspect of our lives. I guess one will always be miserable if he/she looks for acceptance without, looks out for some messiah who will pull him/her out of misery. The faster we come to terms with the fact that we can't be likable to all n sundry, the better it is for our well-being.

The more I believed that joy is something that is external, and received from others, the more I was left chasing it, and the more I was hurt and disillusioned. But the more I looked within, the closer I got to my source of joy!

Bedazzled by the mirage,
The deer ran,
For a single drop of life,
That seemed so much in sight.

It ran, and tired,
'Just a chimera', it said,
'I have to be the drop,
... Myself

- Archana

Also, would like to mention a few lines I came across somewhere (don’t remember where):

tat vam asi’, is how I live my life,
from any of my wants, I wont be denied,
for what I need, isn't from you or you,
its all in me, and I know what to do!

Hi Rudra,
According to the Hindu doctrine, every man can return to his absolute source - the possibility of oneness with the Absolute, a oneness which is already there.

"tat vam asi" means "Thou art That," means thou art the Absolute.

The evolution of technology has brought about the development of scarpe Hogan shoes in not only the performance, but the aesthetic as well. From a single model in the past, hogan donna are now manufactured in variety to suit the changing needs and lifestyles of people. Since Hogan uomo is integrated with shock-absorbent materials, motion-control devices as well as different designs which suit different shapes of the feet, grabbing a great performance yet stylish Hogan scarpe uomo shoes would less likely be a troublesome task any longer.
